As the counting of votes for the 2024 Assembly elections unfolds, key trends are emerging in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). In Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is nearing a majority with leads in 49 out of 90 seats, positioning itself for a potential third consecutive term in the state. On the other hand, the Congress is leading in 34 seats, with exit polls predicting a close race between the two major parties.

In Jammu & Kashmir, the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance is currently in a commanding position, leading in 52 seats, well above the majority mark of 46. The BJP has secured a lead in 28 constituencies, while the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is leading in two seats. This election marks the first since the abrogation of Article 370 and Jammu & Kashmir’s reorganization into a Union Territory.

**Congress Raises Concerns Over Delayed Trends in Haryana**

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has raised concerns over delays in the update of polling trends on the Election Commission’s website. In a post on social media, he questioned the slowdown, suggesting potential interference from the BJP. The BJP, however, dismissed the allegations, with spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stating that Congress's accusations indicate an acknowledgment of defeat.

**Prime Minister Modi Expected to Address BJP Workers**

As the BJP edges closer to a historic third term in Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to address party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

**Key Constituencies to Watch**

In J&K, several high-profile leaders are trailing. Former J&K Congress chief Vikar Rasool Wani is behind NC’s Sajad Saheen in Banihal, while People Conference leader Sajad Gani Lone is leading from Handwara but trailing in Kupwara, where he is also contesting.

In Haryana, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Singh Chautala is currently trailing Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal. However, his son Arjun Chautala is leading in Rania.

**Mixed Reactions from Political Figures**

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed surprise at the BJP's performance in Haryana, urging caution before drawing conclusions. In contrast, PDP leader Iltija Mufti, trailing in her constituency, has publicly accepted the results, acknowledging the people's verdict in Bijbehara.

As counting continues, the results in both states are expected to have significant implications for the political landscape in India.
